How We Track Every Lap You Drive
Every lap on our two rigs is recorded by StintLab, the sim racing telemetry app running on each rig PC, and filed under your seat time on boxboxbox.in — lap and sector times, speed, pedals and braking points. Here is how a lap gets from the game to your phone, what it carries, and how to get the same app for your own rig at home.
FOUR STOPS, SECONDS APART
No staff member types a lap time. The game, StintLab and the site do it between them, and the time on your report is the one the game set.

The game broadcasts the car
While you drive, the game publishes everything about the car many times a second — F1 25 over its UDP telemetry feed, Assetto Corsa through shared memory. Nothing is added to the game: no overlay, no plug-in, nothing between your wheel and the car, so no input lag.

StintLab records every lap
StintLab runs in the background on each rig PC. It picks up whichever game starts sending, cuts the stream into laps, and keeps the metre-by-metre trace: speed, throttle, brake, gear, sectors, and where you braked for each corner. Laps are saved on the rig first, so a Wi-Fi drop loses nothing.

The lap is filed under your seat time
Each finished lap is sent to boxboxbox.in over HTTPS with that rig's own key, and every lap arrives exactly once however many times it is retried. The rig never knows who you are — the desk puts you in the seat, and the site matches the lap to the session running on that rig at that moment.

Your session report is in your garage minutes after you climb out; your quickest lap at the featured track goes on the Wall of Fame; and every time you have set here is on THE GRID. The live timing on the wall screen is the same feed, sent once a second.
WHAT WE RECORD — AND WHAT WE DON'T
- TIMES
- Lap time and all three sectors, in the order you drove them
- VALIDITY
- Whether the game counted the lap — an invalid lap is shown, it just sets nothing
- THE TRACE
- Speed, throttle, brake and gear along the whole lap
- BRAKING
- Where each braking zone starts, peak pressure, and the minimum speed through it
- CONDITIONS
- Track, car, weather, air and track temperature, tyre compound
- Your name at the rig — the rig only knows its own id
- Cameras, microphones or anything off the screen
- Your wheel settings or car setup
Public boards show your driver tag, not your name. The full traces are kept for 180 days; ask at the desk and we will remove a race's telemetry.
WHAT THE TELEMETRY TELLS YOU
Open your garage after a session and every drive with laps behind it links to its report. It is the same analysis StintLab shows at the rig, laid out for your phone.
Best lap and theoretical best
Your best S1 + S2 + S3, and the gap to your best lap: time you have already driven, just never in one lap.
Which sector is leaking
Averaged across your counted laps, so one scruffy lap does not decide it.
Consistency
How far your laps spread. The first thing that tightens as you get quicker.

Pick any two and see the speed, throttle and brake traces on one axis, corner by corner.
The real circuit
On F1 tracks, a surveyed map with both laps' braking points on it — and the lap played back, 1×, 2× or 4×.

ABOUT YOUR DATA
Is my real name on the public boards?
No. The Wall of Fame and THE GRID show your driver tag, never your name. Your real name appears only on staff screens and your own receipt.
Do I need an account for my laps to be recorded?
No — every lap on the rigs is recorded whether or not you sign in. Sign in with Google (or claim your tag at check-in) and the laps from your sessions land in your garage, with the full session report.
Does the recording change how the game feels?
No. StintLab only reads what the game publishes after it has already used your inputs. It draws nothing on the screens and is not between your wheel and the car.
How long do you keep my telemetry?
Lap times stay with your driver history. The full metre-by-metre traces are kept on the site for 180 days and then pruned. Ask at the desk and we will delete a race's telemetry for you.
Can I get the same analysis at home?
Yes. StintLab is the app our rigs run, and you can get it for your own Windows PC at stintlab.info. It records every lap you drive in F1 25 and Assetto Corsa on your own rig, wheel or controller.
